A ferry service by sailing ship

Sail from London to Amsterdam, across the Atlantic and to the Caribbean

Something new or perhaps something old and long forgotten? A ferry service by sailing ship. Sustainable? For sure. An adventure? You bet! That's Fair Ferry and its tall ships. Because we believe the journey should be every bit as memorable and enjoyable as the destination itself.

In 2019, we successfully tested our Rotterdam‑London route, and in the firts months of 2025, we'll be sailing across the Atlantic to exlore South American coasts and Caribbean islands. But even more exciting – we'll be planning new routes, too.

All aboard with Fair Ferry!

Routes

Sailing the North Sea is an unforgettable experience!

ships

Fair Ferry is slowly amassing quite a fleet – all vessels are extremely seaworthy passenger sailing ships, certified to sail the Seven Seas.

And they've all had rather intriguing past lives – we've got a trawler, a clipper, a whaler and even a warship. Nowadays, however, they only set sail with passengers on board, in the trusty hands of our experienced crews. Crews who'll gladly explain the ins and outs of the ships' workings and even teach you the ropes if you'd like.

Rotterdam-London

We'll be weighing anchor and setting sail from the Veerhaven in Rotterdam, then following the Meuse River – known as the Maas in Dutch – out into the North Sea. You can even help the crew if you'd like. As we head out on to the open sea, the ship will begin to roll with the heave and swell of the waves. You'll be able to smell the brine on the spray and you'll even notice that the air you breathe tastes cleaner.  Then we'll be charting a course across the North Sea to the Thames Estuary. London is about 190 nautical miles (350 km) from Rotterdam, which takes about thirty‑six hours to sail. Our exact arrival time will depend largely on wind direction and speed.
